He conspired to withhold evidence from the court when emails were subpoenaed. He took the case after the mother consulted with his colleague Toby Norris, which was a conflict of interest having previous knowledge of opposing party consultation.

Concerns have been raised regarding this attorney’s candor and professional conduct in court proceedings, including allegations that statements made in litigation have at times been inconsistent with the likely facts of the situation. Additional concerns relate to the attorney’s personal relationship with a former client whom he previously represented before later marrying. Mr. Phillips denied this communication on several occurances. Phone records later confirmed our consultation after its occurrence had initially been disputed. Regardless of whether any ethical violation occurred, my experience highlighted the importance of clear conflict-screening procedures and transparency to ensure litigants have confidence in the fairness and integrity of the family court process.
